Unintended Consequences? The Broadband "Plan" Undermines Universal Service

Find It, Face It, and Fix It . . .”


“Does anybody care?” That’s what I wondered initially.


The FCC’s Broadband Plan was issued nearly a month ago. I read it, and anticipated the calls and discussions that would follow. I expected the responses to range from thoughtful concern to unbridled rage. Either of those responses, and anything in between, would have been understandable.


After all, the “Plan” essentially guts and rebukes the foundations of universal service. The “Plan” displaces the very policies that have formed the basis for successful deployment of communications networks in the high cost areas of the nation served by rural Independent companies.
